Hi,
An online Masters in Business Administration (MBA) is a form of distance learning program that uses virtual learning platform or e-learning to impart lessons. All you require is access to active internet connection or ability to reach the city-specific virtual learning centre. Simply put, online MBA is somewhere between a regular MBA and correspondence MBA.
Aspirants need a graduate degree in any discipline to pursue Online MBA programs.
CAT, XAT, GMAT and other management test scores are not required, seats are offered after some form of candidate scrutiny, and at the discretion of the institute.

See, an online MBA particularly from India is not so worth considering quality of the content and curriculum. MBA, being a management subject need lot of activity such as presentation, case analysis, role play, study, sharing what you do and what others do, working with different team, etc. Therefore instead of a distance or an online MBA, a part time MBA from a good institute such as FMS-Delhi, JNTU-Hyderabad, NMIMS from its various campuses make lot of sense and value addition.
Alternatively, you may opt for various MOOC courses from world class universities and they are better than a distance/ online MBA.

The difference as the name suggests is in the mode of study, both are designed for different sections of people and both are relevant looking at the cause for which MBA is being done.
Regular courses are classroom session courses where students have to attend classes, this is nothing but full-time MBA which requires your complete commitment for two years. This is the most preferred by recruiters and organisations.
Distance/ correspondence courses are more about self-study where the study material is sent to the student and they have to understand and learn it on their own. The main advantage of this is fees is low as compared to executiv
