In the OSSTET exam, papers 1 and 2 contain 150 objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs) each. Paper 1 comprises 5 sections i.e. Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language II, Mathematics, and Environmental Studies. Paper 2 comprises 4 sections with a choice in the fourth one i.e. Child Development and Pedagogy, Language-I, Language-II, and Mathematics and Science or Social Studies. OSSTET Marking Scheme: 1 mark is allotted for every correct answer and there is no negative marking in the OSSTET exam.

Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 5 need to qualify OSSTET Paper 1. Candidates planning to teach Classes 6 to 8 need to qualify for OSSTET Paper 2. Candidates planning to teach Classes 1 to 8 need to qualify both papers. The candidates have to apply for the papers according to their eligibility set by the board. The educational qualification criteria has been given below for the candidates
- Paper 1
- Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2 years Diploma in Elementary Education
- Class 12 with minimum 50 per cent marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 4 years Bachelor of E

The OSSTET exam has 150 questions for 150 marks. The exam duration is 150 minutes. The OSSTET exam has MCQs divided in 5 sections, each has 30 questions. No negative marking in the exam.
