There are 2 types of jobs in MBA (IT):
1. Software team workforce management (for engineering – MBA / M.Sc. IT candidates are offered)
2. Sales of software products to various corporates (non-IT background students)
As you are from non-IT background, you will be offered the 2nd choice, if you are comfortable with the sales job then go for it, otherwise it could not be a good decision for you. It is ecstatic having such interest as passion but be clever before investing.

There is no clear guideline from UGC or AICTE for the Distance mode B.Tech programme. So, for the safer side, you must plan your education especially in engineering (B.Tech) programme in regular mode only from a recognized university or institute.
Through regular mode you would knowledge, practical experience, interaction with companies and guidance from faculties.

You are probably a working professional, so choose executive MBA (weekend) within your diameter rather than part time PGDM.
You can also choose Anna University affiliated full time MBA from Gnanamani College (Namkakkal, Tamil Nadu) at total course fee of 1.6 LPA (probably lowest among private colleges) if you have 60% in graduation and decent entrance score.

Yes, you can pursue PhD. For that you need to appear for NET or you can take direct admission in colleges also but I strongly recommend you to go through NET.
I hope this helps.
