Yes, Periyar University has an entrance exam for the M.Sc. Data Science .The Eligibility is a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Information technology (IT), Mathematics, Statistics, physics, Data Science or Engineering [Any of 10+2+3, 10+2+4 & 10+3+3] Assesement according to the scores of the entrance exam and academics.

- Any MSc/MTech/MVSc or equivalent degree/Integrated BS-MS/BE/BTech in any discipline of biotechnology; MSc/MTech in bioinformatics or computational biology; students admitted under DBT - supported postgraduate teaching programmes
- MSc in life science/bioscience/zoology/ botany/microbiology/biochemistry/biophysics; and Master’s in allied areas of biology or life sciences; Candidates appearing for final year examinations also eligible to apply
- The candidate should get 60% marks for General, EWS & OBC category, and 55% for SC/ST/differently abled in aggregate (or equivalent grade)

For admission to the Periyar University MBA course, candidates are required to fulfil the basic qualification requirements for this course. Those who are willing to get admission to the PG level MBA (General) course at Periyar University must get a UG degree of three years of duration with minimum of 50% aggregate in any stream. There is a relaxation of 5% given to candidates belonging to reserved categories. These candidates are required to pass a UG degree with minimum aggregate of 45%. Further, the basic eligibility requirement for MBA in Export Management is to pass the undergraduate course with 55% aggregate.

Students can only pursue BSc at Periyar University's affiliated colleges. Admission to BSc course at Periyar University is entirely merit-based. Candidates are selected based on their merit scores obtained in the last qualifying exam. There is no entrance exam required for BSc at Periyar University. To get admission to BSc course, aspirants are required to pass Class 12 in the respective subject. They must have passed Class 12 from either Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Board or any equivalent board. This selection criteria is common to all affiliated colleges of Periyar University.
