Both CSIR NET and Ph.D. have their own perks. If one wants to pursue their career in lectureship than either you can get it through your NET rank or if your priority is research, then after Ph.D. you may continue with the lectureship. If a candidate is more ambitious and does not want to end up doing Ph.D. then there are more opportunities to explore I. e. Post Doctorate. Hi Lav, The minimum eligibility to appear for UGC NET exam is post-graduation degree with 55% marks for general category candidates. The ST/SC and other reserved category candidates are offered relaxation and required to have 50% marks in master's degree. As you do not complete the educational qualification you are not eligible to apply for the UGC NET Exam.

Hello Husensab,
There are some criteria in education field, if you are done with your Master's degree, then surely you are eligible for work as assistant professor in some private colleges. But, when you are clear competitive exams like NET/SLET, you are eligible to work as an assistant professor in private and Government College, depends upon it's vacancy and work experience. After clearing NET with some years of work experience, you are eligible for assistant professor in government colleges. Ph.D is mandatory for professor level. All the Best for your future.
