You need to have Master's degree for doing Ph.D. It means you must have MDS./MA/M.Sc/M.Com, etc. for Ph.D.

In case of PhD degree, the institute plays lesser role.
The only things which needs attention before registration is the accreditation of that institute.
You need to check that the private institute is affiliated with which government body.
Other important things which actually matters for P.hD. degree are-
1. Your topic for research- this has to be very innovative to have good job aspects in future.
2. Your duration for completing the degree.
3. Your guide also plays a good role as good teachers produce good students.
4. Number of national and international publications with your name.

You are not eligible to seek admission in most of B-Schools because you do not meet eligibility criteria of min. 50% marks in graduation study. However, you can appear for XAT and try at institutes accepting CAT score which does not have a minimum marks eligibility criteria.
