For RPF Constable, a "safe score" varies based on the category and exam difficulty, but aiming for at least 35% for UR, EWS, and OBC-NCL categories and 30% for SC & ST categories is a good starting point to qualify the written exam.

RPF Constable selection process comprises Computer-Based Testing (CBT), PET/PMT, DV and medical. Candidates qualifying the CBT are called for PET/PMT. Those qualifying the PET/PMT are called for DV. Shortlisted candidates of DV appear for medical exam. Appointment of selected candidates is subject to their passing requisite Medical Fitness Test to be conducted by the Railway Administration, final verification of educational and category certificates, verification of character and antecedents of the candidates from the local Administration and successful completion of initial training.

RPF Constable marks is done since the exam is conducted in multiple shifts. To adjust the difficulty level, normalisation of marks is done. The marks of candidates might change normalisation. RPF Constable result is announced based on the normalisation.

RPF Constable normalisation is done since the exam is multiple shifts. According to the normalisation process, the marks obtained in the exam are calculated on the basis of an average score of the top one percent of the candidates considering all shifts. The marks are calculated up to five decimal places.
