Class 12th through NIOS is equivalent to passing 12th through CBSE, ICSE or State Board. Depending on the subjects in class 12th, all the options will be open for you. NIOS has a diverse choice of subjects and based on your interest and what you would like to do in the future, choose them with care. The books prescribed are also made very scientifically, allowing for studying on your own. So, don't worry and choose subjects of your choice and clear them. Yes, you may get better placements. Best of luck.
