There are many course options available. You must opt for the one which matches your interest and skills as it will help you to achieve your long term career goal. After 12th in science if you have studied biology, physics and chemistry, you may take up medicine, dentistry, agricultural science, dairy science or biological sciences (biochemistry or biotechnology only if you fulfill the eligibility criteria).
If you have mathematics, physics and chemistry in 12th then, you may go for engineering courses such as civil, mechanical, electronics, etc. (only if you fulfill the eligibility criteria). Apart from doing the degree level courses in Science with the conventional combinations you can also choose degree courses in several emerging professional areas such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, computer, business administration.
You can also opt for courses outside the university stream such as hotel management, fashion technology, aircraft maintenance engineering and government accredited computer courses. However, other than science stream you may even explore the opportunities commerce and humanities has to offer.

At present, the scientific, analytical and problem-solving skills developed by microbiology graduates are high in demand by employers. There are various options available to you after studying for a Microbiology degree. You can choose to stay in education and do a Master's degree or PhD in microbiology.
You can work in both governments as well as in private sectors. Microbiologists are mostly demanded in the UK, US, France, Australia and Germany. With a degree in microbiology, you can get opportunities in various fields like healthcare organizations, forensic science laboratories, environmental organizations, higher education institutions, food and drink, publicly funded research organizations, pharmaceuticals and many other industries.
In the medicine and healthcare field, your work is usually associated with prevention & treatment of illnesses linked with microbes. Various universities and institutions employ microbiologists as teachers & researchers.
