KSOU is a state public Open University and was established by the act of the State Legislature in 1992, and was brought into force on 1st June 1996. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The university is also approved by the DEC and AICTE (for MBA courses). It has a total of five schools namely The School of Humanities, The School of Social Sciences, The School of Commerce & Management, The School of Sciences, and The School of Education.

Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) is recognised by UGC.
KSOU is inviting applications for UG, PG, Diploma and Certificate courses admission 2021. The last date to apply is November 18, 2021 (without any late fees). The application fee is: INR 300 for B.Com./MA/M.Com /PG Diploma /Diploma and Certificate Courses.

Doing B.Tech/ B.E. through distance mode is not valid as per UGC guidelines. So never be pursue. AMIE, B.Tech lateral and part time regular are the best available options. Further Karnataka State Open University - Sunshine Academy For Learning, Bangalore is not offering distance B.Tech courses
