There appears to be some confusion in raising the query. Let me try and remove the confusion and try to throw some light.Aircraft Maintenance Engineering or "AME" courses are not high cost at all. Typically annual expenditure would be about Rs. 1 lakh. It is felt that this is reasonable. Secondly, it's a three year course and not five years course. This is after 10+2 stage. In addition, many institutions have tied up with some university to award a B.Sc degree. So three year B.Sc in AME with Rs.3 lakh expense is surely reasonable. What is perhaps misunderstood is cost of flying training programme. It's definitely expensive. But then one has to complete minimum 200 hours of flying. I am sure against this information, expense of Rs. 35 L will seem reasonable.Yes, one must look into it and in this case it's matching. After AME one can expect a salary of Rs.6-8 L per annum while a pilot can expect to earn around Rs.10-12 L per annum.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer or "AME" are the people who maintain the aircraft by carrying out different maintenance activities on the aircraft and making sure that is safe for flying. There are basically two streams. One is mechanical and the other one is avionics. There are many training establishment in India that give this training. Here basic qualifications for entry is only 10+2 with PCM. Of course with more people desirous of joining these institutions, some of these have started taking entrance exam to admit students. One needs to take admissions here to become to be eligible to become AME. However, you are allowed to work on the aircraft only after DGCA gas issued license you. For this you have to give another examination. But AME institutions enable this. One can expect starting salary in the range if about Rs.6 L per annum.
