You can get some experience in automation and also get experience of tools like SoapUI, Loadrunner. Also, there are certifications like ISTQB for software testing that you can pursue.

If we talk about the job opportunities, both software testing and networking have ample jobs, it entirely depends on your interest and in which domain you want to specialize in, if testing different types of softwares and finding out the bugs interest you then opt for software testing and if how various networks are setup and how the communication channel works interest you, then opt for networking.
