10+2 or equivalent 10+ 3 years diploma. In Government college you need degree from science. But private institute takes 10+2 or in some cases just SSC passed student.

I would say sound engineering is a better option as it is an extensive course and has better job opportunities than a DJ certificate course. Sound engineering is a challenging field, yet very rewarding. Sound Engineers develop a high quality recording of music, speech and sound effects in studios. If you're opting to learn DJ or sound recording, then take step towards learning it from institute, a specialised institute, from where, you can actually learn about Djing and other criteria of making sounds.

Unfortunately there are no institutes in Jamshedpur for sound engineering course. Although, you can look for colleges in Ranchi or Kolkata for better prospects. Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Kolkata is the best institute for the said course.
