Yes, the SSC CHSL salary differs with the class of city where they are posted. The cities are classified in Class X, Y and Z for the HRA, LTA and other calculations. Have a look at the cities classification below:

  • X Class Cities are the cities with a population of more than 50 lakhs
  • Y Class Cities = Population within 5 to 50 lakhs
  • Z Class Cities = Population less than 5 lakhs

For Pay Level-4 posts, the initial monthly salary in tier-I (class X) city will be INR 40,193 and for the post having pay level-5 will be INR 45,543.
