Symbiosis International University's SET- Symbiosis Entrance Test (Undergraduate Degree Programmes)

According to information from Shiksha, both the B.Tech programs in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at Symbiosis International University (SIU) Pune are touted for promising career prospects. Candidates looking to appear for the SET Exam must adhere to the specified eligibility criteria. The fundamental requirement is the successful completion of Class 12 or its equivalent examinations in the relevant streams, recognised by a reputable board or university. It is imperative for candidates to have attained a minimum aggregate of 50%, with a concession of 5% for SC/ST category students. Even those currently in Class 12 or awaiting their results can apply, but they are required to furnish a passing certificate at the time of application. Additionally, individuals who have completed Class 12 or its equivalent from a Foreign Board must secure an equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to meet the SET eligibility standards for 2024.

Candidates have to choose their preferred institutes during the SET application process and pay the requisite fee. After the SET results are announced, the SET participating institutes will release their cutoffs. If the candidate matches the cutoff, they will be required to appear for the further admission process which includes the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI). 

Aspirants do not need to call the institutes nor will they get a call from the institutes. Candidates will be required fill out the registration form for the participating Symbiosis Institutes after the announcement of results and cut-off marks according to the schedule released on their official websites. 

Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test, which is a cormmon entrance test is conducted on 3rd Sunday of December every year since December 2004. SNAP is only the first step in the process of admission to postgraduate programme. The admission depends upon many other parameters which includes - performance of the candidate in the entrance test and cut off percentile/ score obtained as decided by individual institutue, Group Excercie, Personal Interaction and Writing Ability Test (GE-PIWAT) wherever applicable.

Smbiosis Entrance Test (SET), which is a common entrance test for the admission of undergraduate programmes, is conducted on 1st Saturday of May every year. SET is a mandatory entrance test for admission to undergraduate programme at Symbiosis International Univesity.

i. All the candidates who have registered with the respective institute paid the registration fees and have obtained required SNAP/SET score will be shortlisted for institute specific selection process.

ii. Category-wise shortlisting is done online at secure portal of admission process in the ratio of 1:10 of the sanctioned intake and candidates eligible to be called for selection process (i.e. for 1 seat 10 candidates will be called to undergo the selection process).

iii) In accordance with the cut-off decided by the Director of the Institute, the designated officer of the institute will prepare the list of candidates above the cut-off point to be called for subsequent selection process through online admission portal and will submit the list of short listed candidates for Director's approval. The Director of the concerned institute checks and approves the list of shortlisted candidates and submits the same to the Vice Chancellor of the University through the Registrar for approval.

iv. The Registrar will obtain the approval of the Vice Chancellor to the list of shortlisted candidates and will sign off for declaration of shortlist thorough the online portal.

V. Category wise cut-off marks will be displayed on the Institute website.
