Yes, you can apply for SET as well as the NET exam. Let me clear here that SET is a state level while NET is national level exam conducted for the assistant professor at the university level and the junior research fellowship. The minimum eligibility to apply for the NET or SET exam is post graduation degree with minimum 55% marks from recognised university. The candidates are allowed to apply only their post graduation degree or its related subject. Dear Narinder,
You must pass all the subjects.
Eligibility- 10+2 or its equivalent examination with at least 50% marks (45% in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category) in any stream conducted by a recognized board/university/council in aggregate.

There is no age limit for the aspirants who appear in UGC NET Exam for the post of Assistant Professor. But, if you want to appear in NET Exam for Junior Research Fellowship, then you should not exceed, then 30 years of your age. I hope it helps.

Given the NET examination, if you have completed your graduation in law then you could surely go for law as a subject in NET examination. Otherwise, you could choose a subject you completed your graduation.
