For freshmen admissions, UT Austin applicants are required to submit short answers to prompts in their admission application of not more than 40 lines or 250-300 words. The required prompts include:

For Fall 2025, the University of Texas at Austin acceptance rate is around 24.3%. This university received 90,000+ applications. Since the university is very selective, the students should have a good academic record. For admission to UG courses, Indian applicants should have completed high school education. Whereas, for admission to PG courses of UT Austin, the applicants should have completed a Bachelor's degree.

In the US News rankings for 2026, around 24 of the UG courses of the UT Austin rank among the Top 10 among all the universities nationally. Six of the programs rank in the Top 5 such as Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Petroleum, Chemical, and Civil Engineering. Also, three courses of UT Austin's rank among the Top 10, Computer Science Theory, Artificial Intelligence, etc.

UT Austin QS ranking is #68 in 2026. In the last year's rankings, this university ranked at #66. A slight decline in the rankings in the QS rankings can be observed. But, still in the QS world rankings, UT Austin ranks among the Top 100 Universities worldwide. From the past 5 years, UT Austin has been ranking among the Top 100 Universities globally.

As per U.S. News, the University of Texas at Austin ranks among the No. 1 ranking among the public universities nationally in 2026. It also ranks at No. 30 nationally among both public and private universities. Also, the subjects of this university also rank well in the U.S. News rankings.
