No, all the students willing to enroll into Thiagarajar College of Engineering BTech courses must appear for the TNEA counselling. This counselling process is conducted at the state level for seat allotment in government and government-aided engineering colleges, university departments, and constituent colleges of Anna University. Moreover, the counselling process is conducted purely in online mode.

After completion of all rounds of TNEA counselling, students who are offered admission to TCE BTech courses must report to the institute's campus for verification purposes. Such students must bring along the following documents:

- Class 12 marksheet
