UGC NET Eligibility

According to the NTA guidelines, aspirants have to choose the same or the related subject in which they have completed their post-graduation. But it's not the only eligibility criteria to appear in the UGC NET Management, there are some other also, which I'm sharing below:
The Age limit for the UGC NET Exam is divided into two criteria:
1. JRF: 30 years is the maximum age limit and 3-5 years age relaxation is given to the category candidates.
2. Assistant professor: There is no age limit. The qualification criteria, to appear in the UGC NET Exam you must have qualified or qualifying your Post-Graduation with minimum 55% for General category or 50% for OBC/SC/ST/ Transgender category candidate.

According to the NET exam guidelines you can apply for the exam in the subject which you had in post-graduation or related to that. Therefore, you are not eligible for UGC NET Electronic Science. However, you can appear for CSIR NET exam. This exam is organized for the science stream candidates who want to become researcher or lecturer. CSIR NET is conducted in five subjects. As per your post-graduation subject, you can apply for the physical science. However, make sure, you fulfill the eligibility criteria of CSIR NET Physical Sciences. Yes, you can apply for the UGC NET Electronics exam. The UGC NET exam is national level exam, which is held for the junior research fellowship and to become an assistant professor. The Candidates can apply for the NET exam if they have completed the post-graduation degree. Refer official notification at NTA website for the eligibility details.
In addition, you need to choose the subject in which you have completed the PG degree. As you have completed the post-graduation in nano-science, you can apply for UGC NET Electronics. You also need to fulfill the age limit criteria for JRF while lectureship does not require any age limit.

Hello Brahmmala, As per the NTA guidelines candidates who have completed their Masters degree with minimum 55% aggregate marks (for General) or 50% aggregate marks (for OBC/SC/ST/PwD) or are in the qualifying year can apply for the UGC NET exam. UGC NET exam is conducted in 81 subjects. Candidates can apply for the UGC NET exam with their post graduation subject or related to that. So, as you have completed M.Tech in Electronics, you appear for the UGC NET Electronic Science exam. Recently, UGC NET application process is going on. Hello Jahnavi, As per your qualifications you are eligible to appear for the UGC NET Exam for English subject. But Jahnavi, pursuing the Masters is not the only eligibility criteria to appear in the UGC NET Exam. You must fulfil other eligibility criteria too. They are:
1. Age criteria:
The eligibility of the age is divided into two parts; first for the post of an Assistant Professor and the other one is for JRF candidates. The maximum age limit for JRF is 30 years and there is no age limit for an Assistant Professor.
2. Educational Qualification:
Jahnavi as you are perusing your Masters you are eligible but on the same side, you must score minimum 55% without rounding off.
