In the case of graduate applicants from India, students are not required to provide an English language proficiency test for admission to Graduate College. However, note that some degree programs may require proof of English language proficiency. Also, Indian students must show English proficiency to work as graduate teaching assistant / associate.

The University of Arizona requirements for MS in Data Science are:
- A bachelor’s degree
- A grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- Academic coursework and / or professional experience that shows strong quantitative and analytical reasoning abilities
- Academic coursework and / or professional experience with Math and Programming, including Data Structures, Analysis of Algorithms, and Linear Algebra. Coursework and / or professional experience with Calculus is encouraged but not required
- GRE is not required
