University of Jammu was established in 1969 under Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969. It came into existence after the bifurcation of the University of Jammu and Kashmir. For many years now, the University of Jammu has been known as a research, teaching, affiliating and examining body. It is affiliated with UGC and accredited by NAAC with ‘A+’ Grade. Over fifty government and non-government colleges are affiliated with the University of Jammu.

Admission to all the offered courses is through the Jammu University Entrance Test (JUET) except for MBA. Interested candidates must appear for the entrance exam and the selection is then done based on JUET score. However, for courses such as Btech, MSc, B.Ed, MA, etc, CUET is required. However, candidates can follow the admission procedure of the University of Jammu for admission:

Central University of Jammu accepts the following entrance exams for MBA admission:
1- Central University Entrance Test (CUET) PG exam score
2- Common Admission Test (CAT)

Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university. Candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade in their Bachelor's degree. Candidates who are in their final year of Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply, provided they submit their final year mark sheet before the deadline.
