Career opportunities for travel and tourism degree holders exist both in the public and private sector. In the public sector, there are opportunities in the directorates and departments of tourism of the center and the state as officers, information assistants, tourist guides, etc. Another good prospect for qualified tourism professionals are in the private sector with travel agencies, tour operators, airlines, hotels, transport and cargo companies, etc.

You have following options to fulfill your dreams of traveling after B.Tech in mechanical engineering:(a) You can appear for civil services examination conducted by UPSC and join Indian Foreign Services.
(b) Join merchant navy as marine engineer.
(c) Develop unique engineering specialisation and join engineering consulting companies.
(d) MBA from Tier I B-school in marketing followed by international trade or marketing.

You should study well in B.Com. You need to score well in CAT and you can choose travel and tourism management in higher rank college as it is a very passionate job. You need excellent proficiency in English. You can also do it from abroad, for that you need to score high in GMAT exam.
