As per data curated from a prominent news platform, the West Virginia University is said to be going through some financial struggles, with a number of contributing factors at play, including revenue loss during Covid-19, reduced number of student enrolments, & increasing debt taken for the development of new building projects.
The institute is aiming to cut about 32 programs, i.e. 9% of its majors at the Morgantown campus to deal with the rising costs, among some other additional cost-cutting measures.

Both institutions are very similar in terms of their selectiveness at admitting students, with, West Virginia University acceptance rate standing at 77%, while that of University of Rhode Island stands at 75%.
There isn't much between them & securing a seat at either institute is challenging to similar extents, with WVU, being marginally easier to secure admissions at.
