Fakir Mohan University has a dedicated placement cell. The placement cell facilitates all placement-related activities and act as bridge between the industry and its students. • The minimum FMU cutoff for general category students for a BA (Hons) in Economics may be 84–94%. For ST category students, the minimum cutoff may be 60–70%. 
• For admission to the M.Com program, students must pass B.Com with 45% marks in aggregate. Admission is based on CPET and DHE. 

According to FMU, students are usually selected for admission through merit in the qualifying examination.

MA programme of FMU is available across nine specialisations, which include Education, Journalism & Mass Comm. (JMC), Odia, English, Urdu, Mathematics, Population Studies, Political Science, Economics and Sociology.

Fakir Mohan University offers a Research Fellowship to students. The university offers financial aid to students in the form of fellowships for two-years. The fellowship can extended to another year after the recommendation of the committee. The fellowship amount is INR 8,000 per month from the date of registration/ joining in the concerned department.
