A genuine review from a student studying there.
Placements: For B.Sc. in Nautical Science, we have a batch of 180 students, and for DNS, there is a batch of 40 students. Most of them are replaced in the B.Sc. Placement start from the second year. Students with zero compartments/KT/get placed at the end of the 6th semester. After passing out, the campus tries its best for the unplaced students. From the 2025 batch, out of 178, 164 got placed in companies like Dyna Gas, MSC, NYK, MOL, Chellship, PB Maersk, Torm, and Tanker BSM.
Infrastructure: The overall infrastructure of the campus is good, but there are some issues in the hostel. There is a water issue always on campus, especially during the summer. The mess hostel has Wi-Fi. Mess is good as compared to the mess of other colleges. Canteen and a swimming pool are also available.
Faculty: To be honest, you have to study yourself, but the faculty is too qualified. Most of them were Master Mariners. They have sailed for at least 20 years on the sea and are fond of knowledge, as you know. TS Chanakya is one of the best Maritime colleges in the world. Semester exams are not too difficult. You can easily pass and don’t require daily study. Almost 95% of students in the batch pass.
Other: You will always remember those few days spent in your college as golden days. There are a lot of things to do on a Sunday morning. We have friendship drives and also extracurricular activities like boxing, football, cricket, swimming, and running. I chose this course over a diploma because I want to spend three memorable years.

It is a good college. I recommend students to join it.
Placements: Approximately 90% of students get placed out of 180 students. The highest salary is 600$, and the lowest is 300$ per month. The average is 450$. The top recruiting companies for our course are Synergy, NYK, Dynagas, Feet Management, etc. Everyone is offered the same role as this job is hierarchical and the given post is deck cadets.
Infrastructure: There is no AC in classrooms. Wi-Fi is available and also the library is present with air-conditioners. Each room in the hostel consists of 3 beds and also Wi-Fi facility is available in each wing. The hostel has 3 floors and the best part is the whole hostel infrastructure, which represents an anchor. The mess is very large and the food is also good. The canteen is also available with affordable items. Sports facilities like football, cricket, and swimming are available.
Faculty: Teachers are very qualified and helpful. They clear our doubts and the teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is relevant and related to maritime only as we are going to navigate a ship. With all facilities, students become industry-ready. Semester exams' difficulty level is up to the mark and not hard and also not easy. The pass percentage is around 90%.

My college is good in respect to other nautical Science colleges because it gives value for money.
Placements: In my batch almost 35 percent are placed till the fifth semester. Most placements for consecutive years occur in the last semester so the chance of a good placement is there. Top companies are Torm Tankers, Mol Tankers, NYK, etc. Our role after placement is for deck cadets, where cadets are trained for navigating roles.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is like normal for sufficient for us and Wi-Fi is available in every wing of coastal and labs are present for different navigational requirement and small every sufficient for small number of students classrooms are normal size. Facility in hostel is normal, the mess food is okay, a medical room is present for small medical injuries, etc. A ground for cricket and football and a court for badminton, tennis and basketball each.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are qualified. They are previous captains who have sailed on ships and are quite knowledgeable in their fields. This course curriculum is relevant as most other things taught here are for real ship needs. Semester exams are not quite difficult there mid level in passing percentage is 50 percent.
Other: This course is different from a normal 9 to 5 jobs. I do not want to engineering or a medical professional, which is why this field is very interesting so I chose this and apart from studies. We have to do much field work and physical work is good for me.

Reviewing the IMU Navi Mumbai Campus TS Chanakya as a cadet of this prestigious college.
Placements: The placement of cadets right now from this campus is a bit harder than earlier. The 3rd-year batch, which is passing out in June this year 2025, has only gotten 60% placement till yet. The batch is currently in the 2nd year has gotten 20% placed.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is very poor compared to the money we are paying as fee. The hostel buildings seem to be too old. Also, the paint on walls fades very quickly, usually within six months duration. But, the walls are painted only once every four years. Cadets have to share a room between three guys.
Faculty: Faculty members here are the best in their business. There are three types of faculty members, the ones appointed by the IMU itself, second appointed by the IMU on a contract basis, and third appointed by the college as visiting faculty. Mainly, captains retired or actively sailing take lectures.
Other: The campus life is somewhat influenced by the defense training and academic life.

Great college to start your career in merchant navy.
Placements: Approximately 96% of students get placed every year. There is nothing like the highest or lowest package, but approximately 600 stipend is offered by most companies. Pacific Basin is the mass recruiter. Almost every cadet gets placements in companies like MOL, NYK, SYNERGY, PB, etc.
Infrastructure: There is a fully air-conditioned computer lab, library, and normal classes, with fans; other classes are also air-conditioned, except for the ones in which normal classes are being run. The mess offers you the best food possible, and if you are a non-vegetarian, you get to eat chicken daily.
Faculty: The faculty is very helpful to you and offers you great mentorship as well. Obviously, this course makes you completely ready to sail all around the world, and B.Sc. gives you an overall experience of how to sustain on a ship and carry out all the work needed on a ship.

Review of IMU Navi Campus, TS Chanakya.
Placements: Well Placement is good and above 90%. The package depends on a lot of things. Companies like Pacific Basin, NYK, DynoCams, etc. come for placement. Salary depends on the company and your skills. Placement starts in the second year of your course.
Infrastructure: Good infrastructure, a good classroom, and Wi-Fi are provided. There are 3 labs. A library with various books is there. Good hostels are there. The food quality is good in the mess and canteen, both. Medical facilities are provided. Sports and games are played on the ground and in court areas.
Faculty: Most faculty members are captains here and they have a lot of experience, so their teaching is easy to understand. There are 6 semesters and 2 exams every year for 3 years. Yes, this course will make you industry-ready. Exams are not too difficult and can be passed easily.
