IMU Navi Mumbai Highlights 2025
IMU, Navi Mumbai was formerly known as the Training Ship Chanakya, which was established in 1927 as the first pre-sea training institute in India. It was the oldest and most renowned institute, not only in India but entire South-East Asia. It came under IMU in 2008 and was named as Navi Mumbai campus in 2017. It is a shore-based academy that spreads across an area of 40 acres, along the Palm Beach high way at Navi Mumbai. The University offers over 10 courses at UG, PG and PhD level across various disciplines related to Maritime Studies. Its placement rate is approximately 70%, with some of the major companies such as TCS, Adani Ports, Dredging Corporation of India Limited, Reliance Naval and Engineering Limited, etc. visiting the campus to hire students. The University has also signed up MoUs with numerous international universities/institutes for mutual growth opportunities. The prominent ones include Plymouth University, Admiral GI Nevelskoi Maritime State University, Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University and Southampton Solent University.

The official website of the University states that IMU does not guarantee placements as the job market is dependent on many factors. However, it does take all the reasonable efforts to find suitable job offers for its students. The University has a record of 70% placements rate and many prestigious companies such as TCS, Reliance Naval and Engineering Limited, Lloyd's Register, Adani Ports, IMS Mumbai, Magazon Dock Limited, Goa Shipyard Limited, Dredging Corporation of India Limited, etc. are known to have hired from IMU Navi Mumbai campus.

IMU Navi Mumbai Scholarships 2025
IMU offers a 'performance-based reward scheme' to the meritorious students with the aim of motivating them to keep achieving remarkably every semester. The scheme is based on the academic performance of the students in their immediate previous semester examination. Under this scheme, the University grants Rs 1 lakh to the toppers of each batch and programme. The students in the top 10 percentiles (other than toppers) get Rs 75,000 each and next 10 high scorers get Rs 50,000 each. The University also offers post-matric scholarships for OBC/SC/ST and minority communities through state agencies. Click here to know more.

IMU Navi Mumbai offers admission to all the courses based on a candidate's performance in IMU CET. For UG programmes, only unmarried candidates, up to the age of 25 years are eligible to apply. SC/ST candidates are provided with a relaxation of five per cent in minimum eligibility score (not applicable for English subject) and five years of age relaxation.
