Additionally, for the selection process, the university accepts the IMU CET exam. 

The IMU Chennai offers admission to the B.Tech. in Marine Engg. course based on the candidate's performance in the IMU Common Entrance Test (CET) or through lateral entry for Diploma holders. The eligibility criteria include completing 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as mandatory subjects from a recognised board, with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in PCM and 50% marks in English subject in 10+2.

The eligibility criteria to seek direct admission for the B.Tech. in Marine Engg. course at IMU Chennai are:
- 10+2/equivalent (PCM Average - Minimum 60% and minimum of 50% marks in English subject in 10th or 12th Examination)
- Age Criteria: There is no age restriction
- Relaxation for SC/ST candidates: 5% relaxation in eligibility marks in aggregate; however, it will not apply to English Marks.
- Eligibility Medical: All Candidates who qualify for this course will have to submit a Physical Fitness Certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner.

Yes, the counselling fee is refundable for the BSc course at the IMU Chennai campus. Candidates whose names have not been published in any of IMU's admission lists will be entitled to a refund after the deducting of 10% of the counselling fee. The amount will be refunded to the account from which the payment is made.
