The eligibility criteria to get admissions into MSc courses at Mangalore University are that candidates are required to complete their BSc degree with Chemistry as optional/major/special subject with a minimum aggregate of 45% (40% for SC/ST/Category –I candidates. Moreover, candidates must have studied Physics and Mathematics as optional/major/minor/subsidiary subjects either at the BSc or at Higher Secondary level.Moreover, the university determines merit by giving equal weightage to the entrance examination score and the marks obtained in the qualifying BSc degree. Specifically, the selection is based on a 50:50 ratio between these two components

No, Mathematics is not compulsory for a BA in Economics at Mangalore University. The eligibility criteria that univeristy require for admissions to BA courses are candidates must complete their Class 12 from a recognised board of education or from any stream with decent scores. Hence, if candidates have studied and did not study Mathematics in their Class 12 or equivalent is not necessary to get admissions into BA in Economics.
