The cutoffs are generally higher in the inital rounds, so candidates are advised to wait untill the last round to see if their ranks are eligible for admission. As per the NLSIU Bangalore LLM cutoff 2026, the first round closing rank was 87 for the General AI category students.

The Consortium of NLUs gives admission on the basis of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), which is required for admission to the LLM program. The candidate must have earned a valid CLAT score in addition to an LLB degree or its equivalent with at least 50% of the possible points (45% for those in the SC/ST categories). The CLAT scores recalls students for personal interview. Students are selected on the basis of interview performance.
