What is the cutoff through CAT and NMAT for admission in MBA at Thapar University?

The cutoff changes a bit every year, so there isn't one fixed number. From what I've seen, a CAT percentile around 60–65 usually keeps you in a decent position, while for NMAT, a score close to 190–195 is often considered competitive. But admission isn't based on the test score alone.

Yes, you can get CS at Thapar, but it depends on your entrance score and the cutoff for that year. CS is one of the most competitive branches, so the required rank is usually quite high.

I've seen students keep backup options like COE, ENC, or ECE as well because cutoffs can change every year. If you

How is Thapar University for COE placements? Should I pursue civil engineering from DTU or COE from Thapar University?

If your main goal is placements and working in the tech industry, I would lean towards COE at Thapar. I’ve seen a lot of students from COE get good opportunities, but you still need to work on coding and skills because competition is there.

DTU Civil is also a good option, but I wouldn’t choose it ju

How much do I need to score in NEET to get admission in Thapar University for B.Tech in biotechnology?

As far as I know, you don't need a NEET score for B.Tech Biotechnology at Thapar. Admission is generally based on JEE Main (and the eligibility criteria announced for that year).

I've seen a few students get confused because it's biotechnology, but for the B.Tech program, NEET usually isn't the route

If you're already GATE qualified and working at HCL, I'd compare Thapar with the other colleges you're getting through GATE before deciding.

Thapar has a good reputation, decent faculty and industry exposure. One of my colleague's friends did his PG there while coming from an industry background and

Yes, admission in  Thapar is based on 12th marks for some seats/rounds, but branch allotment depends on your percentage and the available seats. Top branches like COE/CSE usually get filled through JEE-based admissions first.
As far as management quota goes, officially Thapar doesn't advertise a sepa

Should I upgrade my branch from electrical to mechanical engineering in Thapar University?

I wouldn't switch just because someone says one branch is better than the other. It really depends on what interests you and what kind of career you're aiming for.

Personally, I'd stay in Electrical unless I had a strong interest in Mechanical. A senior I know started in Electrical and later found pl

As far as I know, Thapar hasn't announced the 2026 lateral entry admission schedule yet. The best option is to keep checking the admissions page regularly because they usually post all updates there first. Applications for 2026 admissions are already open, so the lateral entry notification should co

With 78% in boards, getting into Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology may be possible, but the branch will likely depend on this year's competition and seat availability.

Higher-demand branches like CSE/COE usually close at much higher scores, so with 78% you may have better chances in bran
