GATE CSE Syllabus 2027 Changes

Topics

Changes in GATE CSE Syllabus 2027

Digital Logic

More focused in Boolean minimization techniques (K-Map and Tabular Method). Clear focus on design of combinational and sequential circuits

Computer Organisation and Architecture

ALU and Control Unit design are now explicitly mentioned; Hardwired Vs Microprogrammed control added, Memory interfacing, cache mapping, and performance have been emphasised

Computer Networks

The topics have been streamlined. Now the syllabus mainly focuses on:

  • Layering principles

  • Switching techniques

  • Ethernet

  • Routing

  • IPv4 Fragmentation

  • CIDR

  • NAT

  • TCP Flow and Congestion Control

  • Socket API

  • DNS and HTTP

What to prioritise in GATE 2027 CSE

Give additional time to direct-mapped, K-maps, set-associative, and fully-associative cache mapping numericals. Don’t full skip the dropped topics. Concepts such as ARP/DHCP/ICMP and UDP are foundational. Study them yet priortise less.
