XAT syllabus consists of English, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Decision Making, General Awareness and Essay Writing. Every candidate who is an aspirant for admission in PGDRM at IRMA earlier, had to undergo IRMA Social Awareness Test (IRMASAT). IRMASAT was a compulsory online test to assess awareness about issues of social concern. From 2022 onwards, IRMASAT was scrapped and the admissions to IRMA are now being done on the basis of CAT, XAT and CMAT scores.

By evaluating candidates' performance in CAT, XAT or CMAT along with other selection criteria such as academic qualifications, work experience, and personal interview, IRMA aims to identify individuals who possess the requisite skills, knowledge, and commitment to contribute effectively to rural development initiatives and pursue careers in the field of rural management. For admissions, IRMA shortlists candidates on two calls:Merit-based Calls: The selection committee will decide the category-wise cutoff for candidates who appeared for CAT 2023, XAT 2024 or CMAT 2024.Profile-cum-merit based Calls:Candidates who fulfil the following criteria will be shortlisted for profile-based calls:Graduation in Agri Packaging and Processing, Agriculture, Agriculture Engineering, Cooperation related to Agricultural Cooperatives, Dairy Technology, Fishery, Food Processing, Food Science, Food Technology, Forestry, Horticulture or Veterinary from recognised universities and colleges.Work experience in the Development Sector, Social Impact, Livelihoods, Policy and Advocacy, Agriculture and Allied Sectors.Hence, if you have a work experience in any of the above departments or sectors, you can expect a profile-based call from IRMA and if you have only appeared for the CAT, XAT or CMAT exam and match the cutoff criteria, then you can expect a merit-based call from IRMA.

The cutoff for the OBC category in 2017 varied across different rounds of the admission process. Below is a breakdown of the cutoffs for each round:Round 1: The cutoff for the OBC category in Round 1 was 81.60 in CAT 2017. This score indicated that candidates who scored above or equal to 81.60 were eligible for the subsequent rounds of the admission process.Round 2: In Round 2, the cutoff for the OBC category was 80.40 in CAT 2017. This score was lower than the cutoff in Round 1, indicating that more candidates from the OBC category were eligible for the final selection process.Round 3: In the final round, the cutoff for the OBC category was 79.90 in CAT 2017. This score was the lowest among all the rounds, showing that a larger number of OBC candidates were eligible for the final selection. It is important to note that cutoffs are subject to change each year, depending on various factors such as the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the CAT exam, and the performance of the candidates. The cutoff serves as a benchmark for candidates to assess their chances of securing admission into the institute. In conclusion, the last year (2017) cutoff for the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category at IRMA was 81.60 for Round 1, 80.40 for Round 2, and 79.90 for Round 3. These cutoffs played a significant role in determining the eligibility of candidates for admission to the Indian Institute of Rural Management (IRMA) during that year.
