Details of Placement Drive - DAV College, Jalandhar

Work on enhancing skills during the semester and keep abreast with the information provided by the college to perform well in the placement drives.

Placement plays a crucial role in a student`s life. Before getting admission in a college, every student often searches about the placement opportunities, the companies offering packages, etc. in that particular college. In this regard, workshops, internships and group discussions help the student to enhance their skills and knowledge to get placed in a company.

I am pursuing Bachelors in Commerce (Honours) from DAV College, Jalandhar. In my college, the Placement Dean shares the placement dates with the students through Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Every year, many companies visit the college. Around 28 companies visited in the last six months.

Companies Visited

Almost the same companies visit the college every year, however, this year new companies visited our campus such as IDS InfoTech, Josh Talks, Clockwork Business Solutions, BYTE Dance [Parent company of TIKTOK App], e - clerks, Uni-Com Fincorp Private Limited, Exide Life Insurance, Byju`s, Zolostays Property Solution Private Limited and many more

Company Requirements

The companies demand the candidates from different backgrounds, as per their requirements. The following companies visited in the last six months:

• Clockwork Business Solution - For the students from BSc (IT), BSc (CS), BCA and BBA (only Marketing)
• BYTE Dance (Parent company of Tiktok App) - BSc and MSc
• Wipro- It is for the students from BCom, BSc (Economics), and BA and BBA
• Capital Small Finance Bank - it is for only MCom students
• Arrucus Media Private Limited- it is for only BJMC Students
• Jubilant Chemsys- it is only for the students of MSc (Chemistry)
• Nestle-it is for the students of BSc [medical] students
• Infosys-it is for the students from BCA or BSc background
• Zolostays Property Solution Private Limited- it is for the students from BCom and BBA only
• IDS InfoTech- it is for the students from BSc (Biotech, Medical), BFST and MSc [Zoology]

Last year Internship Opportunity - Companies

Companies like Shiksha.com, Times of India, Punjab Youth Leaders Programme, Decathlon (French Company) and Arrucus Media Private Limited visited last year.     

Packages Offered 

In my college, many companies visit every year and offers its package. Until now, the lowest package is Rs.1.7 Lakh per annum. The average package ranges from Rs. 2.5 Lakh to Rs. 3.5 Lakh per annum and the highest package until now is Rs. 10 lakh per annum. In addition to this, companies like Byju`S and IDS InfoTech offers Rs. 5 Lakh per annum. Most of the companies require graduation or post-graduation degree except for some companies. They need a graduation degree only. Also, some of the companies require related field only. This varies from one company to the other.

Highlights of the Placement Cell

The placement cell conducts workshops on topics like resume writing, mock interviews, group discussions, spoken English, confidence building, etc. It also provides services like Registration via google forms, SMS updates to all eligible students, personality grooming sessions, students coordinators and career counselling.
