Q: What is the eligibility criteria for admission to the post-graduate programmes in the field of Commerce and Business Studies at SK Somaiya College?
A: To be eligible for admission to Master of Commerce and Business Management programmes, the applicant must be graduate in either of the courses that include BCom (Hons), BCom, BBI, BFM, BAF, BMS, BBA (Hons), BBA and BA (Economics) with a minimum aggregate of 50 per cent aggregate from a recognised university.
Candidates appearing for their final year graduation examination can also apply provided they must obtain the required minimum cut-off marks and also produce the entire necessary documents, in original, within the given stipulated time
Q: Can you briefly tell us the admission process and selection criteria?
A: The admission process at SK Somaiya College includes three broad stages:
- Online application form: As a part of the admission process, all aspiring candidates need to first fill-up the online application form by paying a nominal fee of Rs 1,000. Students applying for more than one programme must fill up different forms. This online application form will secure a provisional seat for the student about which the student will be communicated via email. The selection is at University’s discretion
- Fee deposit: The students who have been offered the provisional seat need to deposit the initial fee amount of Rs 25,000 as per stipulated admission schedule to secure the same
- Admission confirmation: Provisional admission needs to be confirmed within five working days of declaration of qualifying exam result
The admission at SK Somaiya College is offered on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Q: What are the various options available to students willing to opt for a masters degree in commerce domain?
A: The students willing to pursue post-graduation in the commerce domain have four choices. All the programmes are of two years of duration:
- Master of Commerce in Accounting and Finance (MCom A&F): For students to willing to learn about corporate laws, international taxation, international economics, derivatives, etc
- Master of Commerce in Accountancy (MCom Accountancy): For students aspiring career in accounts, taxation, management, human resources and logistics
- Master of Commerce in Banking and Finance (MCom B&F): For students who look forward to a career in Banking and Financial Services industry
- Master of Commerce in Business Management (MCom BM): For students aspiring career retail management, strategic management, human resources management
