In a conversation with Shiksha.com, Dean Vidyalankar School of Business Dr Artee Aggarwal talks about their strategical initiatives to achieve the goal of character building of students. She also talks about various facilities available on campus to give students experience of corporate world. Dr Aggarwal has rich experience of academics with various institutes and universities. In a conversation with Shiksha.com, Dean of Vidyalankar School of Business Dr Artee Aggarwal talks about their strategical initiatives to achieve the goal of character building of students. She also talks about various facilities available on campus to give students experience of corporate world.

Dr Aggarwal has rich experience of academics with various institutes and universities. She has also been conferred awards such as Prof. Indira Parikh 50 Women in Education Leaders Award at World Education Congress 2018.

Q: What are the three things that your institute is doing that will enable it to differentiate itself from competition?

A: The faculty team and management at Vidyalankar School of Business are working towards common goal which is character building so along with developing business acumen, VSB also encourages students to involve into CSR activities. Fostering creativity and innovation by using simulation is our differentiator. We have established a Biz-Lab in our institute to give our students a real world experience of decision making. We also offer foreign language such as Mandarian French and German in our institute.

Q: What are the top three initiatives undertaken by you that are helping your students become more industry ready?

A: At VSB, we have leadership labs which are run by students. In these labs, students plan, organise and execute various activities which helps in leadership development. We also encourage book review sessions where they read, write and discuss books. This prepares them for self-expression. We conduct several workshops, too.

Q: What are the key attributes that a student should have in order to qualify for your institution and to get top grades in your institution?

A: To qualify for VSB, a student must have an inclination for business studies. They should have a decent ranking in any of the various national entrance tests for MBA such as CAT, XAT or MAT.

And, to excel in the institute, one must be all-rounder. Besides good academic grades, it is also important that student participate into various creative activities which is important for holistic development. 

Q: Which programme/s would you say is/are your best? What is it that helps your institution differentiate itself for this programme?

A: Our specialisation lies in offering various contemporary programmes such as PGDM in Digital Marketing and data analytics. These programmes are designed and executed by corporate professionals so that students get first-hand information and knowledge.

Q: What are you doing to improve/drive better campus placements for your current students and alumni?

A: We have a dedicated placement cell which works closely with the students for their personality development. The cell conducts several mock sessions on Group Discussions, Personal Interview and aptitude test. Proficiency in business communication has been given great emphasis along with decision making skills.
