Coronavirus: HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal announces meeting of state education secretaries

Anita Karwal, Secretary, School Education and Literacy department, MHRD will be holding a meeting between the state education secretaries, to discuss several topics including online and digital learning offered in their states.

Union Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that he has asked Anita Karwal, Secretary, School Education and Literacy department, MHRD, to hold a meeting between the state education secretaries.

He further informed that meetings will be conducted to discuss several topics including health and safety of students, hygiene measure, issues face by both teachers and students during online teaching in different states.

“As directed by me, Anita Karwal, Secretary of School Education and Literacy department, MHRD, is taking a meeting of all state education secretaries to discuss health and safety of students, hygiene measures in schools, and issues regarding online or digital learning in their states,” the HRD Minister tweeted.

In mid-March, all schools, colleges and other educational institutions around the country were closed as a preventive measure to contain the spread of coronavirus. MHRD, boards, and institutions have taken different measures to promote online learning during the lockdown so that the teaching-learning process continues.

Many premier institutions around the country have also decided to hold online exams for final year students. 

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will also be conducting the remaining CBSE 10^th exam for a section of students in North-East Delhi in July along with  CBSE 12^th exams 2020 from July 1 to 15. On May 18, CBSE had released the revised Class 10 date sheet 2020 and CBSE Class 12 date sheet 2020.

Nishank had earlier said during a discussion that "the Board is expected to declare CBSE 10th Result 2020 and CBSE 12th Result 2020 by August 15. These include the results of previous exams and the results of examinations in July."

This is the first time, that the Board will be announcing the Class 10 Results and Class 12 Result by mid-August. 

Recently, the HRD Ministry also had announced that it will open the schools after August 15, after accessing the coronavirus situation in the country.
