IIIT Bhubaneswar witnesses 91 per cent placement for academic year 2019-20
According to the official sources, the placement was released after the Board of Governors (BoG) meeting of the institute held under the chairmanship of chief secretary Asit Tripathy.
International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bhubaneswar established by the government of Odisha witnessed in 2006 witnessed 91 per cent placements of its passed outs for the academic year 2019-20. According to the official sources, the placement was released after the Board of Governors (BoG) meeting of the institute held under the chairmanship of chief secretary Asit Tripathy. The official statement also revealed that a high placement record of 90 per cent to 94 per cent is maintained by this institute in the last five years.
Around 26 companies including Microsoft, McKinsey, Visa, Dell and Amazon participated in the IIIT Placement 2019-20. The students received appointment offers on an average scale of 4.85 lakhs. The maximum salary offered by the company is Rs 41 lakh per year. Mr Tripathy directed the institute to work out the 'way forward' containing short, medium and long term objectives with broad timelines for scaling research and specialization eco-system in the institution.
Talking about the innovative methodologies followed by the institute such as self-learning course, self-development course and coding competition, IIIT director Gopal Nayak said,"A self-learning course is introduced in each semester. The students pick a subject, study on their own and write a personal learning paper. The subject chosen is not restricted to their discipline. This provides the scope for the booming of their hidden talents."
According to the Institute's registrar Ajit Kumar Das, IIIT Bhubaneswar’s students bagged top rank in Google Online Marketing Challenge of the current year. Thousands of teams consisting of over one lakh students from 100 countries participated in the challenge. A five-member team of IIIT consisting of the students namely Dhairya Mehta, Sambit Mohapatra, Shraddha Padhihari, Bhabya Mohanty and Sneha Batabyal topped the rank. IIIT is providing consultancy to the government in nine different projects. It has also filed its claim for a patent in two subjects during the year 2019-20, official sources said.
