Common Entrance Test in Karnataka is conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority. The KCET exam, which will take place on May 1 and 2, 2013, is meant for admission into Medical, Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy, Naturopathy, Yoga, Engineering, and Architecture courses.

KCET 2013 Programmes & Eligibility requirements:

Medical / Dental courses:

To be eligible, a candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study and obtained an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in the subjects. Candidates must have secured not less than 50% of marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in the Common Entrance Test.

Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses:

A candidate must have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam with an aggregate minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study. The marks of the class XII and the entrance exam in equal proportions will be the basis for selection. Candidate should have completed the age of 17 years as on 31st December, 2013.

B.Sc in Agriculture, Forestry, Sericulture, Agriculture Biotech, Horticulture and Bachelor of Home Science courses:

A candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects with 50 per cent. The marks of the class XII and the entrance exam in equal proportions will be the basis for selection.

Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry course:

A candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects with at least 50 per cent marks. Eligibility for the course will be based on the marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects in the Common Entrance Test.

B.Tech in Food Technology, Dairy Technology, Food Science and Technology, Bachelor of Fishery Science, and Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Marketing and Co-operation courses:

A candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology as optional subjects with 50 per cent marks. The marks of the class XII and the entrance exam in equal proportions will be the basis for selection. The Rank lists will be separate for each course.

B.Tech in Agriculture Engineering:

A candidate must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as optional subjects with 50% marks.The marks of the class XII and the entrance exam in equal proportions will be the basis for selection. Rank lists will be separate for each course.

Engineering / Technology courses:

A candidate must have passed 10 + 2 with 45 per cent in Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Biology / Electronics / Computer Science as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study. The marks of the class XII and the entrance exam in equal proportions will be the basis for selection

Architecture course:

A candidate must have passed 10+2 with 50 per cent in Mathematics as one of the optional subjects. The candidate should also appear and secure a minimum of 40% marks in NATA. The candidates is suppose to submit the photocopy of the NATA SCORE CARD along with Class XII marks sheet by mentioning the CET number on or before 19-05-2013 to KEA either in person or through ‘Speed Post’. The marks of the class XII and NATA in equal proportions will also be the basis for selection. 

Here’s how to apply for KCET 2013:

  • Application procedure for students within Karnataka: The candidates should purchase the brochure-cum-application forms through their respective schools or colleges on cash payment of Rs 650 (Rs 500 for SC/ST) or through NEFT transaction to Account no 878333780 with NEFT/IFSC code IDBI000M010  at Indian Bank, Malleshwaram, Bangalore
  • Candidates are required to submit their filled applications to their respective schools or colleges.

For students residing outside Karnataka: The Karnataka candidates residing outside Karnataka (including Horanadu, Gadinadu and other Karnataka candidates)  can obtain the application forms through Speed Post by sending a DD for Rs 750  favour of " Executive Director, Karnataka  Examinations Authority" or by remitting the amount through NEFT transaction to Account no 878333780 with NEFT/IFSC code IDBI000M010  at Indian Bank, Malleshwaram, Bangalore.

Such candidates should send the filled application forms by ‘Speed Post’ only directly to KEA on or before 05-04-2013.

Important dates for KCET 2013:

  • Last date for submission of application forms to the principal of schools and colleges within Karnakata: March 30, 2013
  • Last date for submission of application forms by speed post: April 5, 2013
  • Entrance test: May 1 and 2, 2013
  • Kannada Language test: May 3, 2013
