Lexicon MILE joins hands with Ministry of Forests to offer Winter Internship Project
The Lexicon Group of Institutes’ Management Institute of Leadership and Excellence has developed a sound reputation for providing enriching internships and placements to its students. Felicitated with the title of ‘Best Management Institute for Placements 2020’, Lexicon Management Institute is driven to giving students the best of both worlds: in-class learning, as well as real-world work experience. One of its most prominent features is the Winter Internship Project, which is a mandatory part of the PGDM curriculum offered at Lexicon MILE.
This Winter Internship Project is undertaken by all Lexicon MILE students along with the Ministry of Forests, Pune. This project aims to focus on rural research and to understand and meet the global need for social and emotional empathy in the corporate world. This is a one-of-a-kind unique learning experience for students to live in the midst of nature and its rural citizens, and to develop social and environmental sensitivity. This element of the PGDM curriculum holds a weightage of 100 marks and is crucial in the successful completion of the program.
As with all Lexicon MILE programmes, the Winter Internship Conclave held on the March 14, 2020. It was an exciting and enriching experience. Three senior Indian Forest Services (IFS) officers from the Ministry of Forests, Government of Maharashtra graced the Lexicon MILE campus. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Social Forestry Dr Dinesh Kumar Tyagi, Conservator of Forests RangnathNaikade and Deputy Conservator of Forests Sreelaxmii Annabathula were the prominent guests at this event. These senior members addressed the students with their chosen topics for the Winter Internship Program for 2020. The topics for this year’s research in villages were:
- Impact of Publicity and awareness on public for Rs 50 crore Sapling Plantation scheme
- Public opinion about roadside plantation, its utility and Management
- Study of Rainfall Pattern, Water Management, Harvesting and crop cultivation
- Ecotourism potential in rural areas and employment generation.
The Winter Internship Program is a success each year at Lexicon MILE, and the 2019 project was conducted in five locations of Maharashtra-Jalna, Chikhaldhara, Pal, Shahapur and Kundal. The students who successfully complete their projects, got the opportunity to present their research work in front of the dignitaries from the Forest Department at the Winter Internship Conclave. Not only is this mode of presentation, the most effective and engaging, but also gives students the confidence to present their findings on stage in front of a respected audience. The Conclave for 2020 witnessed flawless execution and presentations from all the students and was praised by the forest officials.
The students of Lexicon MILE are mentored by esteemed members of the faculty during this entire journey. The event was organised and coordinated by Dr Anuja Johri, Dr Vineeta Agrawal, Professor Sandra and Professor Veena Sharma. Professor Amar Narkhede was instrumental in the central coordination right from students and faculty group allocation, till its publication of the report in the form of a book.
Dr Susen Varghese who is the Director of Lexicon MILE, is instrumental in the entire journey of this project. From her personal interaction with the Ministry of Forests to the overseeing of this Winter Internship Conclave, she plays a significant role in the success of all the students at Lexicon MILE.

Lexicon MILE offers admission to PGDM programme based on entrance exam scores of candidates. The institute accepts scores in CAT, MAT, CMAT, MH-CET, XAT, ATMA, etc. for admission. Selected aspirants also need to pass the group discussion and personal interview round for final selection.
