Platforms to showcase my talent and skill sets helped me gain self-development, says Karina Wagh
After completing Class 10th, I decided to opt for commerce stream. I had keen interest in Accounts and Mathematics, so I wanted to move ahead and set a career using these two subjects. This is the reason I chose BMS in Finance during graduation from Chetana Hazarimal Somani College. After graduation, I was technically sound but I felt the need to pursue a management course. I decided to pursue PGDM as the curriculum is industry-related and also gives more practical exposure. While searching for best college for PGDM, I came across Vidyalankar School of Business. I did some research about the institute and got to know that the college is well known for its curriculum and placements. Hence, I filled the application.
Before admission, I appeared for AIMS Test for Management Admissions (ATMA) as a qualifying exam in general because a lot of colleges accept that and scored 40 percentile. I have never engaged with any coaching centres for preparing for entrance exams. With this low percentile, it was tough to get admission in any B-school. For admission in VSB, entrance exam is not mandatory. The applicant must fulfil other eligibility criteria in context to academic scores. I was eligible for admission, but I had to undergo a personal interview round with panel of interviewers. I got admission in Vidyalankar School of Business after clearing all the challenging stages of selection criteria. Right from application to pre-qualifying and personal interview, this seems easy, but its very tough to stand up to selection panel’s expectations.
Our college timing is from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. To spend free time in college we have so many options such as activity room, gaming zone, karaoke room, news session, debate club, and other social clubs.
We have different committees in the college. The committees conduct different kinds of social and cultural activities and I am the part of cultural committee. Recently, we organised donation drive for orphanage at Gyandeep Signal Shala at Thane. We have also celebrated various cultural days such as saree day, traditional day, twins day and mismatch day, and many more.
VSB has given me ample opportunities and different platforms to showcase my talent and skill sets and has really helped me in self-development. Today, I look myself as professional and more matured person with a vision to scale new heights in my career.
In future, I want to be a finance professional and look forward to start my own company as a successful entrepreneur.
