SPPU: Oral, practical exams for senior college students to be held after classes begin offline

Pune University also directed its affiliated colleges to not hold viva or practical exams online and wait for the same until offline classes begin.

SPPU Exams 2020: Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), popularly known as Pune University is all set to conduct oral and practical exams via offline mode. According to the latest update, the SPPU announced that it would be holding the oral and practical exams as part of the ongoing semester exams only once the offline classes begin. Pune University also directed its affiliated colleges to not hold viva or practical exams online and wait for the same until offline classes begin. The varsity also instructed colleges that the practical, oral, seminars and projects for both semesters of 2020-21 academic session will be conducted as part of the term-end examination which will be held in March – April 2021.

In order to confirm the development, SSPU Exam Director Mahesh Kakade stated that the colleges could not conduct academic activities for practical exams and viva related activities due to the novel coronavirus outbreak. He further added that considering the pandemic situation, students could not use laboratories and participate in other workshops or training units that require students to be present in person. In such situation it wouldn’t be right to hold oral or practical exams. Therefore, the university plans to train students with laboratories once offline classes resume and only then the practical exams would be held.

Meanwhile, SPPU is also planning to commence offline classes for students in a phased manner from the first or second week of January 2021. Following the commencement of offline classes, all Pune University affiliated colleges are informed to conduct oral and practical exams only after the commencement of regular offline classes.
