St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi Alumni Network

St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi is one of the most sought autonomous colleges in the entire Jharkhand state with affiliation to Ranchi University. Besides this, the college is also recognised for having the oldest library in town. The college is accredited by NAAC with grade A and also gained the College with Potential for Excellence status. In the coming years, under the “Rashtriya Uchchtar Shiksha Abhiyan” of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, the college is expected to become a deemed university or a Unitary university. In view of this, a lot of infrastructure development is considered and alumni of the college can prove beneficial.

The alumni of St. Xavier’s College are designated as AROX (Association of Ranchi Old Xaverians) members and hold meetings at least once a year and make suggestions to the college authorities on various matters. The AROX is affiliated with the National Federation of All India Jesuit Alumni Association and the following activities are conducted by the AROX members from time to time-

1) Blood Donation Camps

2) Tree Plantation Drives

3) Annual get-together/ meet up of students or ex-students

4) Career counselling

5) Organising Quiz competitions, debates and other co-curricular activities for students

6) Organising health check-up camps for the students

7) Supporting the Alma mater in infrastructure development

8) Adoption of any village/ school for its integral development

For SXC AROX membership, candidates of St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi can apply on the official website of the college and fill out the online membership form. After being a member, the donor can sponsor one or more classrooms or conference rooms as per their choice and the college will name them as per the wish and desires of the donors. The names of donors with even the smallest amount will be featured on plaque among the list of donors. 

One of the major purposes of the alumni association is to bring together like-minded people and work for the betterment of the institution. The members of the AROX, also, contribute constantly toward the development of the institution. Some of the ways in which the Association of old Xaverians contribute toward the development of the college are-

1) Constant feedback on all matters related to the institution.

2) Participation in academic matters. One alumnus is selected and appointed to the Board of Studies of each course. 

3) The members of the AROX are also co-opted as the Academic Council to contribute to restructuring and updating the course curriculum. 

4) Regular meet-ups where the alumni members residing in various parts of India and the world come over and share their experiences with the staff as well as students. 

5) Tree-plantation drives and blood-donation camps are organised in the city from time to time by the Alumni Association.

6) Scholarships are also initiated by the alumni of the college. One alumnus awards a scholarship of INR 36,000 every year to the determinant student who achieves the first rank in Science.
