Effectiveness of the Placement Cell for B.Com Programs at St. Xavier's College Ranchi

Based on the feedback from students and alumni, the effectiveness of the placement cell for B.Com programs at St. Xavier's College Ranchi is mixed.

* Some students mentioned that the placement cell is not very helpful and doesn't provide adequate guidance for internships and job placements. (e.g., "The placement cell is not that helpful.")
* Others reported that companies like Godrej, TCS, and Concentrix visit the campus, but the selection process is competitive, and only a limited number of students get placed. (e.g., "Companies like TCS and Wipro come with back office jobs with 1.5 to 2.5 LPA.")

(e.g., "Placement assistance is provided by the placement cell and they provide you the job vacancies.but you will have to walk in for it.")

Overall, while the placement cell does seem to facilitate interactions between students and employers, its effectiveness appears to depend on individual efforts and circumstances. It is crucial for students to take proactive steps to secure internships and job placements despite the limitations of the placement cell.

* "B.A. in sociology is an honours course.when it comes to placements, with this degree, one doesn't take placements but pursues higher degrees for clearing NET and UPSC exams." - [Alumni]

I'm not satisfied with my college because of the faculty, placement, infrastructure, facilities, etc
Placements: Around 20-30% of students are placed in our college, and I don't know the highest package, but the lowest package is around 2 lakh to 2.5 lakh. The top recruiting companies that come to our college are Deloitte, TCS (Tata Consultancy Services), ICICI Bank, etc.
Infrastructure: Thera are various facilities provided in our college like Wi-Fi, computer labs, library, and classrooms. The quality of food and canteen is very bad and unhygienic, the video is viral on Instagram, you can watch there. There is a playground where you can play football, volleyball, and basketball, and there is sports room.
Faculty: The teachers are well-qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching is good, but the course is not good. You should score a minimum of 40 marks to pass the exam. If you fail in any exam, you have to give a retest, for which you have to pay Rs. 1,000, then only you can give the test.

It is a nice college, if you are considering it for your all-around development.
Placements: Since my course does not have placements so I can't tell you about them, but as my friends told me, placements are good. In my type of course, they give good quality content that gives support in competitions. The course and the content in it are useful and helpful for competitive exams.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good. Classrooms are well-made and spacious. I don't know about the hostel because I have not been there. There is a big playground. Campus is spacious and big. It also has two basketball courts and one volleyball court. There are three canteens.
Faculty: Faculty members are good. They help us and whenever we question, they answer and assist with problems. Since my college is autonomous, it takes exams at the proper time. Faculty members teach well if they are not able to understand, they make you understand in other ways by giving examples and all. In terms of course and exams, it's good in comparison to other colleges in the region.
Other: College provides lots of exposure options. It organizes many curricular activities and sports.

St. Xavier's College in Reality.
Placements: The placement percentage is around 30% The highest package offered is 6 LPA. The lowest package offered is 1.2 LPA. The average package offered is 2 LPA. The top recruiting company are TCS, EY, etc. 5% of students got internship from the course that also in networking and business companies. The top roles are of business analyst and marketing manager.
Infrastructure: The facilities provided in the college are decent. The Wi-Fi speed is good, the labs are provided with upgraded instruments. The classrooms are provided with digital smart boards. The library contains all the helpful resources. The quality of facilities in hostel is average. The quality of food in mess is worse. The canteen offers average food. The medical facilities of college are decent. Sports and games opportunity are there.
Faculty: The teachers are qualified and knowledgeable but fails to share it with the students effective. The teaching quality is average. Some teachers are very rude. The course curriculum is relevant to the modern day exposure and make the students industry ready. The semester exams are moderate to difficult. The pass percentage is 70%. .
Other: I choose the course because of my interest in accountancy. The best thing about course is it deals with money. The things that need to be better is practical knowledge. The events held in college are organised by clubs like Rotaract club. The connectivity is good with many facilities and co-curricular activities.

B.Com. in Banking and Insurance - Batch of 2027
4.4
4Placements4Infrastructure5Faculty4Crowd & Campus Life5Value for Money
The main aim is to build character.
Placements: About 80-85% of students got placed. I guess the highest in this course by completing undergraduate program is Rs 2.20 LPA. The lowest salary is around Rs 1.58 LPA. Internship is almost 90% because it's a vocational plus hons degree. Top recruiting companies are Wipro, TCS, and other banks too like ICICI, IDBI, Kotak, and insurance companies also. Top roles are offered as financial manager in bank agents, insurance advisory, and marketing and sales executive.
Infrastructure: Excellent facilities are provided by the college. Every department has labs, library, vocational department labs, library, practical experiences, etc. Hostels are available only for boys. There are 3 blocks A, B, and C. Rooms are allocated single, double, or squad as per vacancy and needs. The overall quality of the food is excellent. Canteens are also available, there are around 3 canteens. Medical is always available. Sports and games are played. Many events are arranged by the college.
Faculty: Teachers are well-mannered with the students. They are highly qualified and knowledgeable. They are very much helpful and polite. It makes the students ready for the industry. I am a first-year student and I have developed many soft skills and hard skills too. Semester exams are quite difficult and strict. The pass percentage is around 40%.
Other: Students choose B.Com (vocational) in banking and insurance for its job-oriented curriculum, combining commerce fundamentals with practical banking and insurance knowledge. It's popular among students aiming for careers in finance, government exams (like banking/insurance), or further studies like MBA/CA. The things would be better or improve are more real-time banking case studies and simulation labs, updated software training. Mixture of students from across Jharkhand, Bihar, Bengal, and Odisha. Majority are from commerce background, preparing for CA MBA, or government services. Campus is known for being disciplined, academically focused, and cultural active. Events are usually happen only but fest by the college are not done.

Satisfied with the programme.
Placements: I don't know how many students got placed, but placements after graduation at my college are probably rare, and the package would also be around the average of 2 LPA and the highest of 3 LPA. Through my course, no one from my college will get placed in any company. Internships are provided, but I guess no one in my batch did an internship, probably because attendance is mandatory.
Infrastructure: My college has excellent facilities and infrastructure. Wi-Fi is available, even separately for different departments. There are SMART boards, blackboards, and whiteboards? Everything needed to help students understand topics. The classrooms are also very good, though they could be a little cleaner, but it's alright. You can find all the books you need in the library, and you can comfortable study there with AC and everything. The hostel food is much better than in other hostels. There are also two canteens: both are pockets-friendly for students.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable, but I guess the teaching quality needs to improve a little for all teachers, not just one or two. If you want to become a professor of literature, you can easily study this course. Everything that is asked in NET exams is taught in this course. Literature is difficult, but if you give it some time and gain a little knowledge, then everything becomes easy, and the exam paper is good, not hard.
Other: I opted for this course because this is the best college in Jharkhand, and I want to become a professor. This college is the best. It's not like some other colleges where it doesn't matter if you attend or not; here, attendance is mandatory. The rules, regulations, and facilities are all excellent. If you want to take admission, do so without any worries; it's a very good college, and the campus is great too.

Satisfied due to faculty members. As faculty members of other departments are quite friendly.
Placements: Approximately 130 students take admission every year. The highest package was around 5 Lacs per annum. Many companies visit our college but I would recommend to pursue for Masters as well for your better future. Although college is good if we compare with other colleges.
Infrastructure: Faculty members are good but not that much they provide us with study material but sometimes they have poor management if we talk about classes anytime they cancel the classes. And hostel is for SCs and STs (for boys only) if you want to live in hostel you have to take it outside around 10-15 min walking distance.
Faculty: Ya teachers are helpful except few. Some are very strict in BBA department. You have to groom properly for boys they should not keep bear they should come in clean save and for girls they should not come in open hairs otherwise they will not give you attendance.
Other: I'm quite interested in management. As this course Bachelor of business administration I. e BBA provides a vision for exploring more in HR, marketing or in finance.

Well you can proceed into the BCA course through Competitive exams like CUET and NIMCET.

If looking for IPU University then you can even give the IPU CET exam in that regard. Apart from this there are many private institutes and universities that provide direct admission into the course.
