Q: What is the eligibility criteria for admission to the BTech program at MIT School of Engineering?

A: To be eligible for admission to the BTech program at MIT School of Engineering, the applicant must have:

  • Cleared Class 12 from any state board, CBSE or ICSE with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and/or Technical Vocational Subjects as the compulsory subjects
  • Cleared Class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 50 per cent in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with English as a core subject (applicable for open category students)
  • Cleared Class 12 with a minimum aggregate of 45 per cent in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with English as a core subject (applicable for reserved category students)

Besides this, it is mandatory for the applicant to have a valid score of at least one nationally accepted Engineering qualifying exam such as MHT-CET 2020-21, JEE (Mains 2020-21), other states entrance exam of the current year, Uni-GAUGE-E 2020 or PERA CET 2020.

Q: What is the admission process? And, on the basis of what parameters the final selections are made?

A: As a part of the admission process, all eligible applicants are required to fill up the online application form on the institute’s official website by paying a nominal fee of Rs 1,500.

After detailed profile screening, MITSOE will release a merit list considering the score in JEE (Mains) Paper-I or MHT-CET 2020 or PERA CET 2020 or Uni-GAUGE 2020 or Any Other State CET and accordingly students will be informed about their selection.

Upon selection, students need to pay the first instalment of Rs 98,100 to the institute through NEFT RTGS or Demand Draft or Cheque.

Q: What are the various specialisation options available to students? What opportunities can students expect after graduating in their respective specialisation?

A: MITSOE has strong roots and yet aspire to grow more. The institute offers not just traditional specialisations that cater to all core areas of management but also offers new-age specialisations that deals with the emerging needs of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

Specialisations offered at MITSOE includes:

  • Mechanical Engineering, upon completion of which students can look for opportunities in Mechatronics and Automation Engineering too
  • Civil Engineering offers knowledge related to planning, designing and construction of various facilities. This can also lead to a career in Construction Engineering and Management
  • Computer Science and Engineering deal with computer hardware and software. This specialisation can get high paying jobs to students in the field of Network Security and Intelligent systems too
  • Electronics and Communication Engineering offers courses related to VLSI & Embedded systems, communication & image processing and communication & signal processing. Upon completion of this degree, students will be equally competent to take up jobs in VLSI & Embedded Systems, Communication & Signal Processing and Electronics & Computer Engineering
  • Information Technology is one of those new-age specialisations that deal with a huge amount of data. It can lead to a successful career in Data Analytics too
  • Aerospace Engineering focuses on teaching students how to design, build and maintain machines that fly

Q: What is the total cost of the four-year BTech programme at MITSOE? Do you also offer any financial aid or scholarship to students?

A: The total cost of the four-year BTech program varies on the basis of specialisations.

The total cost of BTech in Computer, IT and EC is Rs 8.71 lakh while the cost of BTech in Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil is Rs 8.56 lakh. 

We do encourage meritorious students by offering them scholarships up to Rs 2 lakh. To be eligible for the same students must have a score of over 80 per cent in the engineering qualifying exam. Students can also apply for the educational loan if they want The admissions department will assist them during the complete process.

Q: Is it a residential programme? If yes, what are the hostel and food charges? 

A: Not just India, but we do have students from various international destinations. Hene, it was important to offer hostel facilities for students.

We offer accommodation facilities to students on the double, triple and quad sharing basis. The cost for the same is Rs 1.3 lakh per year which also includes food.

Q: Can you share some of the most recent placement statistics?

A: We have a great corporate network comprising of almost all leading recruiters and corporate across the country. And, because we trust our education quality, the industry also understands the quality of our students and hence prefer to recruit from our institute every year. Ltd. Talking of the most recent placement statistics, we have witnessed the highest package of Rs 24 LPA offered to CSE students while the average package stood at Rs 5.4 LPA.
