JIMS Kalkaji has helped bring about a positive change in me, says Sanskriti Nautiyal
We were given a form to choose our stream, a few months before my Class 10 exams. Almost all of my friends opted for Science and a few of them opted for Commerce, but I couldn’t decide which stream to opt for. I was interested in Chemistry and Biology but didn’t want to take up Physics. Knowing that I would have to deal with Physics if I take up Science, made me rethink. So, after talking to my teachers and parents about this, I finally took up Commerce with Maths.
After the Class 12 board exams, I didn’t have much idea of what I wanted to do further. I got myself registered for different entrance exams for different courses and managed to score decent ranks in almost all of them. So, after discussing with my parents, I chose to do BBA from JIMS Kalkaji - Jagannath International Management School.
After Class 12 board exams were over, I joined a coaching institute to prepare for college entrances. I had filled a lot of courses for IP University. I had also applied for DU JAT and IIM-Indore. My main aim was to crack either one of them. But since my rank wasn’t enough to get me into those colleges, I couldn’t get admission there. After not being able to clear those exams, I got really confused since I had given entrances for Mass Media and Journalism, English (H) and BBA from IP University and got decent ranks in all of them. But after talking about this with my coaching institute teachers and parents, I decided to take up BBA.
We have a fixed time table in college, so we don’t get a lot of free time. But whenever we are free, we either sit in the library or canteen. There are two common rooms in our college basement, one each for boys and girls, so we sit there sometimes and play carrom or watch students practice for various competitions or events.
Since I have always been interested in Economics and Accountancy, I look forward to these lectures.
Our college has a number of societies. From dramatics, dance, debating to singing, arts and craft to even a placement cell, we have it all. If given a chance I would love to be a part of the debate and singing society.
My college experience, until now, has been very enriching. Initially, it was difficult for me to adapt to the new atmosphere and surroundings and people. But after spending two years in this institution, I can definitely say that I have changed as a person, and the change has been positive. The college has also given me many opportunities to take part in various competitions and this has helped me in becoming a better version of myself.
