There has been no clarity on the board exams schedule yet. However, all the examinations will be taking place offline next year. Read to know more.

Amid uncertainty on board exam dates due to COVID-19, several schools are conducting the pre-board examinations online. This is being done to ensure that the students are prepared well in time for the final board examinations. While, a final call from the ministry of Education is awaited, the decision on the mode of examination has been finalised. CBSE has clarified that the examinations will only be conducted in pen and paper mode next year and not online.

Sangeeta Hajela, Principal, Delhi Public School Indirapuram said that they were able to conduct their first set of pre-board exams in online mode around the beginning of December. "The upcoming pre-board exams are planned in the offline mode along with practical tests. We will be ensuring full safety guidelines related to distancing and hygiene, and would expect the same cooperation from students and teachers as well," she added.

According to Pallavi Upadhyaya, Principal, DPS-RNE Ghaziabad, while the school has conducted online exams for pre-boards, it is also planning to hold physical exams in January. She said that they have been able to complete the academic syllabi for board classes and have conducted the first pre-board examination virtually as per the CBSE guidelines issued according to the paper pattern. She further said that they have conducted virtual sessions with students and parents and have ensured a fair exam. "Our system has been designed to keep the exam fair for the invigilator and students," she added.

Earlier, CBSE had successfully conducted the major engineering entrance examination JEE Main as well as national medical entrance examination NEET offline during the pandemic.

Schools across the country were closed in March to curb the spread of COVID-19. They were partially reopened in some states from October 15, 2020. However, a few states have decided to keep them closed in view of the increasing number of cases.
Many of the examinations were postponed, rescheduled and later cancelled in light of coronavirus spread. The Board Results were then released on the basis of an alternative assessment scheme.

Meanwhile, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' is expected to announce the CBSE 10th dates as well as CBSE 12th dates tomorrow in his live webinar at 4 pm, as per reports.
