B.Sc. in Botany - Batch of 2027
5.0
Titles of Review:- Solid Botany programme with Practical Labs & Decent Placements .
Placements: 2nd year B.Sc. Botany, 2024-2027 batch at All Saints' College, TVM. Studying since last semester, saw seniors' placements firsthand. Placement %: 35-40% got campus jobs. Standard for botany? Many case M.Sc/Kerala PSC, but private seekers landed roles. Packages: the highest 4.5 LPA (biotech Bangalore, issue culture), the lowest 2.2 LPA (local sees), average 3 LPA. Solid fresher start. Top companies: Kerala Agro Machinery, UPL, IISR research roles. Internships: 25% got them at KFRI, botanical garden, agri startups. Top roles: Issue Culture Teach, Quality Analyst, Lab Assistant, Junior Botanist. Practical training aids research/government path.
Infrastructure: Botany labs shine with microscopes, autoclaves, greenhouse for ferns/medicinal plants? Perfect for anatomy practical. Classrooms have projectors/fans, Wi-Fi okay in main block, library stock solid taxonomy/ecology books but reserve early. Hands-on setup beats theory-only colleges. Clean shared rooms, 24/7 water/generator. Mess serves filling Kerala price-sambar-fish, veg daily, hygienic. Canteen cheap chain-vada. Nurse/basic meds, hospital tie-up. Volleyball/badminton courts active. Solid for focused studies.
Faculty: Most botany faculty are helpful and qualified? M.Sc/PhD from good unis like Kerala University. They explain complex topics like plant physiology and taxonomy clearly, using lab demos. Teaching is solid, practical-focused, not just wrote learning. Syllabus covers basics to advanced like ecology, biotech, medicinal plants? Relevant for M.Sc. or jobs in agri/research. Includes hands-on like herbarium prep, but could add more industry modules like GIS for botany. Makes us somewhat ready for labs/government exams, not fully corporate. Exams difficult and pass %: Semester exams moderate? Practical tricky with identifications, theory needs diagrams. Pass % around 85-90% for our course. Prep with notes/practical gets you through.
Other: 2nd year B.Sc. . Botany, 2024-2027 batch at All Saints' College, TVM. Chose B.Sc. . Botany after 12th Science? Love plants, nature walks, and lab work on taxonomy/ecology. Hands-on practical like microscope sessions, greenhouse experiments, field trips to nearby forest. Faculty guides well, build foundation for M.Sc. or research. More industry visits, updated syllabus with biotech tools, better Wi-Fi everywhere. Less theory, more projects. Lively crowd? Friendly classmates, mix of local/outsiders. Annual fests like Onam celebrations, Science quiz, botanical expo. Green campus near beaches. Active NSS, nature club hikes, volleyball. Vibrant but hill vibe, perfect for studies.
