The GITAM Institute of Medical Sciences and Research is strict when it comes to the eligibility requirements of MBBS. The candidate must have passed the 10+2 examination or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology as the main subjects, and secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in these subjects (for general category), and 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates. Admission is based on the scores obtained in NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate). Only candidates who have qualified NEET-UG are eligible for admission.

Apart from the above, the top 5% of students (subject to a maximum of seven students), who are not admitted under this merit scholarship scheme, will also be awarded a 10% scholarship in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th year of MBBS, subject to scoring 65% and above aggregate marks every year.
