It has a good crowd and a nice hostel. It is a proper Karan Johar-type college.
Placements: Top roles offered are software engineer, Ml engineer, and mainly software jobs. Many students opt for off-campus placements so they can choose their job preference, and it depends on students. Mostly, every student is going for software-related jobs. Students also do internships.
Infrastructure: It's really good and luxurious. In the hostel, we feel at home. The food is also like home, so it's comfortable. Labs are good, and sometimes, they call industry specialists for the guest lecturers in the auditorium. The hostel is also good with facilities like a lift, food, and CCTV cameras.
Faculty: Some faculty members are good, but some are not. They will teach us and make us study practicals. Faculty members are overall good, and we can adjust to them. Exams are also strict. Overall, we have to study and prepare for it. The course curriculum is relevant, and they conduct industrial visits for students.
Other: Events like big festivals are organised. Many celebrities come to college. Fests organsied are good.

GECR: A growing hub for technical excellence and career opportunities.
Placements: There are excellent opportunities for campus placements at our college. Our recruiting companies include Reliance Industries Limited, Weybee Solutions, Bolt, TatavaSoft, Adani, Simform, WebOccult, and many more. The highest package offered in 2024 was 7.5 LPA for graduates from the Computer, Mechanical, and Electrical departments.
Additionally, our college provides internship opportunities. Companies offering internships include Pathway Organization, WebOccult, Weybee Solutions, and others. The roles available through these companies encompass software development projects, mechanical development projects, and more.
Infrastructure: There is a government hostel available for boys. They can stay there with minimal cost. The college has very good infrastructure, and there are different departments for every engineering line. There is also a mess available for students who stayed in a hostel.
Faculty: The academic capabilities of faculty members are excellent. They follow the proper teaching method. The course curriculum at our college is considered relevant and up-to-date. It perfectly aligns with current industry standards, and students notice that changes in the syllabus positively impact future needs and effectively prepare them for the job in the company. There are a total of 3 exams through the semester. 1. Mid sem (30 marks) 2. GTU university exam (70 marks) 3. Practical exam ( 30 Viva + 20 Internal assessment marks ).
Other: I chose this college over the other colleges because I consider many parameters like: Location, college reputation, college facilities, and many more. There is also bus transportation available for students who come from the city.

Good and bad things about GECR.
Placements: Currently, I am in 3rd year, and my seniors have been placed in very well and big companies. About 85% of students got placed this year, with the highest package being 8 LPA, the lowest 2 LPA, and the average package around 4-5 LPA. Companies like Reliance, Adani, and Tata will also come this year to recruit students. Our college also provides good internship opportunities. The roles offered by these companies include software development projects and mechanical development.
Infrastructure: All facilities are available at our college, such as a library, gymkhana, playground, tools for all types of sports, hostel, labs, computers, and a workshop for the mechanical department. The hostel is for students who do not belong to Rajkot, and the mess food is quite good, like home-cooked food. The college also has a doctor available for any medical emergency.
Faculty: Our college has a large team of well-qualified and experienced faculty members across various departments. Faculty members are very polite to students and support them in improving their potential. There are a total of 3 exams per semester in the college, including the mid-sem exam (30 marks), GTU university exam (70 marks), and practical exam (50 marks: 20 internal assessment + 30 viva exam).
Other: I chose this college over others because I consider many parameters like location, college reputation, facilities, and more. According to my location and my rank in ACPC, this is the best government college I can get, so I chose this college over other private colleges.

Dissatisfied because of infrastructure, not having good placement.
Placements: In computer engineering, the 2024 batch is getting placement in something like 50 percent. I think the highest package of GECR is 8 Lacs, and the average package is 4 Lacs. In our college, top companies like TCS, Tatvasoft, etc., visit. Not all students are getting internships, so this is not good for this college.
Infrastructure: There is campus Wi-Fi, but it doesn't work everywhere and at all times. Different departments have their own Wi-Fi, but it also doesn't work or disconnects anytime. In the government hostel, there is no mess available at any time, and the canteen in the college has been closed for the last 2 years.
Faculty: Some of the faculty do not provide complete guidelines for us to understand. However, there are some teachers that we prefer. In GECR, teaching quality is average. Our college has mid-sem exams in the middle of the semester, which are not as hard as university exams. There are marks of 30, so we can qualify for 12 marks.
Other: I chose this college because I had a rank of 4800, and I didn't want to take admission in private colleges. I didn't fit in colleges like LD, VGEC, etc. In our course, there are a few teachers, like 2 or 3, whose teaching methods are not sufficient for our understanding, so there is room for improvement. In our college, there are no events like those in private or other colleges, only events like Garba and Urja Spot.

Review of Government Engineering College, Rajkot.
Placements: Placements are a mixed bag. If students are from computer engineering department, then they have good shot at getting placed. Companies like TatvaSoft, Synoverge Technologies, and Acty System visit our campus for recruitment. The average salary package offered is around 3.25 LPA. However, if students are from other departments, like civil engineering, the placement scene is not as rosy.
Infrastructure: College infrastructure is decent. We have good Wi-Fi, and the buildings are separate for each department. Hostels are okay, but they are old and requires a bit of paint. We have to manage our own meals. There are all the facilities in the hostel except Wi-Fi and mess.
Faculty: Faculty members are one of the highlights of this college. They are supportive, qualified, and always willing to blend a hand. Classes are regular, and they make sure students are prepared for exams. They are also super helpful when it comes to placements and other activities. Semester exams are not difficult if you have studied well.

Dissatisfied with placement and management.
Placements: 35 out of 150 students in the computer department were placed. There are mainly service-based companies or startups coming for placement, such as Tatvasoft, Sinform, Gateway, Weboccult, etc., which are mainly from Ahmedabad or Rajkot. For other branches, Adani, TATA, and Reliance also come. The highest package in 2024 was 7.5 LPA from the computer, mechanical, and electrical departments, and the average package goes around 2 to 3 LPA. Roughly 40-50% were placed last year.
Infrastructure: Faculty members do not respond that much, except for some faculty members. The Wi-Fi facility is very poor, classrooms are average, and labs are good. But the main problem is the library; they take fees for the library but do not provide the library facility. The hostel does not have a mess, and the canteen is not there. Food facilities in the local area are below average. There is no medical store in this area; you need to travel 4 km for medical needs.
Faculty: The teachers have good knowledge, but they are poor in teaching. They are highly qualified and have good knowledge in their field. Teaching quality is poor. The course curriculum is not that much relevant. Obviously, this course does not make students industry-ready; they need to focus on skills. Semester exams are not that difficult; if you prepare during the reading vacation, you can get very good marks. The passing criteria for semester exams is 23 marks out of 70.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in computer science. I wish to improve placement companies, library facilities, gym facilities, and arrange more events in different fields. The campus crowd is not that much. In the computer department, it is full, but in other departments, many seats are vacant. Scholarships are provided by the Government of India and Gujarat, such as MYSY, Digital Gujarat, and food bills. They are not interested in extracurricular activities. Some faculty members are interested and arrange sports events, but the college does not provide funds for this. Students pay and arrange this.
