B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering - Batch of 2028
3.6

Decent college for engineering studies.
Placements: I am in 2nd year, and in our batch there are around 150 students. In my course, Chemical Engineering, around 80 percent of students got placed every year. The highest package is around 8.6 LPA and the lowest is around 3 LPA. Top recruiting companies are HPL, Wipro, Capgemini, etc. Around 70 percent of students got internships from HPL and local companies in Haldia.
Infrastructure: Our department has decent classrooms, a lab, and inside our department, there is a small library which contains only departmental books. Hostel food is not that good, but it is manageable and affordable. Medical facilities are available on the campus 24/7. The gym is also available on the campus.
Faculty: The teachers are very helpful, highly qualified, and knowledgeable. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes the students industry-ready. Semester exams are moderate, and the pass percentage is around 80 percent. If you study regularly, you will get good marks.
Other: I chose chemical engineering because the placement is very good here. The campus life at Haldia Institute of Technology is very calm and full of greenery, which creates a peaceful environment for studying. The campus crowd is diverse because students from different states study here, and the connectivity is decent. Technical and cultural fests are organised every year, including college fests, departmental events, and competitions. There are some student clubs and societies, though participation depends on personal interest. Scholarships are provided to eligible students, which is helpful for financially weaker students.

Boys hostel should be made available for all the years.
Placements: I am Suraj Burnwal from Haldia Institute of technology B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. The placement is above average in our college and this year the highest package is of approximately 14 LPA from the AEIE batch and the average package is 4 to 5 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Wipro, Byjus, Haldia Petrochemical, TCS, Accenture, etc. Internship is also provided by the college to the students more or less. If you are capable you can make it.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is quite good or average you can say. Playgrounds are regularly maintained and the sports instruments are also well equipped. The labs are also average. Some are damaged but can be ignored. Library is quite big and there are lots of books which students require for their curriculum. The hostels are also well maintained and cleaned every week and the food is also average. There is one issue that only first year boys have access to hostels and rest outside.
Faculty: Teachers are helping nature well qualified and most of the PhD holders are very knowledgeable, but the CSE teachers are most hated by the students as this is a new subject not easy to understand. The course is curriculum relevant, and it makes the students ready for the industry. Semester exams as told by the seniors are not that hard and the students also get the question bank from the faculty to prepare.
Other: I have secured a good name and I have heard about Haldia as a good college in West Bengal. I have chosen CSE at Haldia. Most students choose CSE for better placement so my motive behind this is the same. Events are quite irregular due to the interruption of seniors, and campus life is average but better than the other private and some government colleges of West Bengal. Swami Vivekananda Scholarship is given to the students of West Bengal, and there are extracurricular activities like sports, music, media worker etc.

A balanced college with good academic and campus life.
Placements: In our course, chemical engineering, almost 80 to 85 percent get placed every year. The highest package is around 12 LPA-14 LPA, and the lowest is 2.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Himadri and HPL. Around 40 percent of students got internships in HPL or local companies in Haldia. Top roles offered in production engineering.
Infrastructure: Our department has decent classrooms, labs, and Wi-Fi. The library is good for studying. Our library is open every single day and open from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Mess food is manageable, to be honest. Our campus has good medical support and sports.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are helpful and very good at behavior, and all the teachers are knowledgeable. The teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is relevant and gives basic industry exposure. Here, students pass easily if they study regularly in class.
Other: I chose chemical engineering because the placement is very good in our department. Better thing, I wish for connectivity.

An honest and well-defined review of Haldia Institute of Technology.
Placements: The placement at the college is quite good compared to others in West Bengal. The maximum package is above 7 LPA, and the lowest is 2–3 LPA. Companies like TCS, Infosys, and Comnigent visit the college and offer packages in a range. The top roles in my college are software and developer positions.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure at my college is well-maintained. Classrooms and the library are fully air-conditioned. The campus covers almost 52 hectares, and two sports grounds are available. All types of sports are played, and the college provides a gym. Hostels are good and only for first-year students. Canteen food is good.
Faculty: Most faculty graduated from local colleges in West Bengal, and all faculty teach well. They are helpful and make studying easier. The curriculum is sufficient for this course. Exams and tests happen every semester, with more than three tests conducted per semester.
Other: Overall, the college is good, but students improve their skills on their own.

B.Tech. in Civil Engineering - Batch of 2028

I am currently in my 2nd year, and I have seen a lot of other things.
Placements: Our college has overall 93 percent placement rate. My branch of civil engineering has an overall 100 percent placement rate for 2024, and 2025 placement is ongoing. Around 70 percent of students have been placed in ongoing placements with overall well-reputed companies.
Infrastructure: Hostels have very good Wi-Fi facility, and a good mess with top and friendly wardens, but there's an issue that hostels are allotted only for the favourite people in the 2nd year, but in the 1st year everyone has been allotted a hostel. The teachers give night classes if needed in the semester and seminars.
Faculty: Our college is autonomous college with a very well-reputed background from IITs, NITs, and foreign institutions, and exams are well supervised. If any students got back their paper, they get their back paper for only 1500 for all subjects, and the back is not shown in the result.
Other: I am currently in civil engineering, which has one of the best recognitions in our college as a branch because of 100 percent placement rates with very well-qualified facilities.

Supportive faculty and decent infrastructure, with scope for better placements.
Placements: 90% of students get placed in our Civil Engineering course. The highest package is 8 LPA. The lowest package is 2.4 LPA. The average package is 4 LPA. The top recruiting companies for our course include L&T, Kalpataru, and Pinnacle. The top roles offered in our college are consultant and site engineer.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, and labs are decent. The classrooms are also good. The library is well-equipped, with all the books available for your course. Wi-Fi is fast and reliable. Hostel facilities are not very good. The college provides shared rooms with two students, study tables, chairs, bedding materials, and Wi-Fi. The food quality in the mess is not great. Facilities for sports and games are good. It includes football, cricket, volleyball, basketball, badminton, and chess.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are generally helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable in their subjects. Their teaching style is easy to follow. They are approachable whenever students need clarification. The course curriculum is relevant and covers the essential concepts needed to build a strong foundation. Although adding more industry-oriented training and workshops would make students even more industry-ready. The semester exams are moderately difficult, but with regular study and a proper understanding of the syllabus, they are manageable. The pass percentage is also decent. Most students clear their subjects with consistent effort. Faculty members are good and supportive. They always help and complete their subjects before the examination. They clear all doubts and provide suggested questions for the exam.
Other: The course is good. A few areas could be improved. More industry-oriented workshops and updated lab equipment would help students gain better practical experience. Increasing the internships, industrial visits, and skill-based training sessions would also benefit students. Some subjects could be taught with more real life case studies. It makes learning more engaging.

Official ETS practice tests work best. Free ones on the TOEFL website match the real exam closely. Test takers recommend TOEFL Question Bank and some paid apps for speaking feedback. Combine them with YouTube tips. Avoid random books. Consistent practice beats everything else.
